KELLY STEELE
Creative Producer

How you describe yourself: Loves life. Hates numbers.
How do others describe you?: Probably the same. Or a technical idiot. Or really, really hilarious.
Years in the business: Too many to count on my fingers and toes... so I gave up. (See: hates numbers)
Personal mantra: I choose earnest over hip.
Favourite food: Champagne. Ok, it's not food... I'm a rebel without a cause.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Morning coffee and watching the ever-changing view of the Halifax harbour. That and sheer strength of will.

Why Journeyman?
Earnest over hip. Wonderful people. Big dreams.

What is your ultimate dream?
Bill Murray. Oh. Sorry. Write a play... a really good one. And leave every place I'm in better than I found it.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A mapmaker (not kidding).

How do you find rejuvenation and balance?
Friendships, travel, hiking. What really works is quiet - finding the time to be still... and I'm still not good at it.

What would you be doing if you didn't work in production?
Hmmm... maybe a theatre director. Or an interior designer. Most likely a crazy chef, drinking port and cigars at 3am.

What are some of your favourite travel experiences?
Anywhere with my wonderful daughter or my great friends. Canada Day Parade in the Land of the Midnight Sun. Hiking in Peru and the British Isles. Single Malt on Skye. Wine tour of Portugal. Mussels in Brittany. Birthday in Rome. Rodin Museum in Paris. I should change my middle name to 'Lucky'.
